Often little justice is available for victims who endure incredible scrutiny and judgment, often to no avail, as it is difficult to prove these cases beyond a reasonable doubt when the only witnesses are often the perpetrator(s) and the victim. But the one-in-five statistic makes victims of not only the not-to-be-named woman or girl in media reports, but your sister, your mother, your wife, your friend, your co-worker, the woman who checks your groceries or cleans your teeth. It’s time to sweep rape myths into the dustbin of history and provide today’s rape survivors with support and understanding, rather than blame and judgment.

Amen.

Also interesting the Houston Chronicle is less condemning of the woman in the KBR case than Mother Jones. The news story in particular.
